Nikki talks about the use of AI in election campaigns

See the full news coverage here as local media has a conversation with candidates about the use of AI in the upcoming campaign cycle. President Trump and the White House have used generative AI in the past couple of months to push messaging and images of Trump, his allies, and his political opponents.

“We’ve seen attack-style memes that can be created. We’ve seen memes that turn people into superheroes or things like that. And when using AI, I would hope everybody would think about, is this an ethical use of it?” said US House candidate Nikki Gronli.

Gronli said that generated AI can be dangerous and paint a false narrative of people.

She doesn’t approve of any side using it, and hopes fans of political figures don’t use it to attack political opponents.

“I would hope that those who are a fan of a political candidate also would think about the ethical use of AI and allow the campaigns to do their work and get their message out,” Gronli said.
